This exhibit contains mostly recent watercolor paintings, many done in "plein air" in our region. I also include a number of musician pictures, since music is alive and well in Syracuse. I try to capture what I see in front of me or what I see in my mind's eye and hope to express my feelings about this in the color schemes. I tend to use strong colors in my work.

I, Ute Oestreicher, have been painting and drawing since my childhood with long periods of not being actively creative in between. I grew up in Post-Nazi Germany when German Expressionism was rediscovered after being defamed under Hitler. I was very attracted by this and French Impressionism and visited museums and galleries wherever and whenever I could. I think that the exposure to the art of the great masters has influenced me in my own painting. I consider myself an amateur painter not having had a formal art education. I attend artist workshops and presentations and I am still learning new approaches. I belong to several local art guilds and have won awards in juried shows.
