The Magic of Winter Tree ID @ Petit

The magic of winter tree ID refers to the surprising and rewarding experience of identifying different tree species even in the winter when they are dormant. This time of year reveals unique characteristics often overlooked during the growing season. Join Levi O’Brien in developing the fundamental observational skills to identify trees without leaves.  Presentation will be held indoors.

Levi has an extensive knowledge of trees, plants and insects, and he is happiest when sharing his knowledge and passion with others. He is on faculty at the New York Botanical Garden, and gives tree tours and talks in NYC, the Hudson Valley and tri-state area. Levi is currently pursuing a Master’s in Forest Pathology at ESF. In his spare time, he studies wood and greenwood craft.
