My Maternal Lineage to Aunt Harriet
Wednesday, July 23, 2025 | 10–11 AM Eastern | Zoom
Presented by Adrianne Jones Roderick, Genealogical Researcher
Join us for a powerful & personal presentation by Adrianne Jones Roderick, the great-great-great grandniece of Harriet Ross Tubman, as she reflects on her family’s role in preserving the legacy of Aunt Harriet. From oral history to genealogical research, Adrianne will share how family has carried Tubman’s legacy across generations - illuminating the past for future generations.
This program explores the intersection of family history and memoir - and how genealogy helps to keep extraordinary lives visible and vibrant.
Adrianne contributed her findings on John Green in Chapter 14 of Beyond the Underground: Aunt Harriet, Moses of Her People, a 2013 creative nonfiction work co-authored by her mother, Joyce Stokes Jones, and sister, Michele Jones Galvin. As Adrianne states, "Joyce Stokes Jones was the primary researcher and family historian. It was my mother who taught me how to use the fiche reader to access family information and other tools to conduct family research."
